TESAT

Over the past five decades, TESAT, an independent subsidiary of the Airbus Group, has developed extensive know-how in the production of payload equipment for communications satellites and established itself as the clear market leader in Europe. On the 60,000 m² site, centrally located in Backnang, about 1,100 employees develop, build, integrate and test systems and equipment for telecommunications via satellite.

Our products must operate flawlessly in a height of hundreds of thousands of miles over the Earth over many years, and under the difficult conditions of space.

These are e.g. extreme temperature fluctuations, strong radiation loads, solar storms or even the mechanical adversities at the rocket launch. This makes it pretty clear that the demand for research, development and, in particular, production is far higher than for "terrestrial" products, simply because of the external circumstances.

Our product portfolio includes highly reliable devices such as traveling wave tube amplifiers, multiplexers, switches and modulators, which, as well as complete systems, are supplied worldwide to all leading satellite manufacturers. We are convinced that in the future global communication can only be realized with the inclusion of space. That is why we are the first company in the world to develop and deliver equipment for optical broadband communication in space - our Laser Communication Terminals.

Thus, our core competences lie in the high-frequency and telecommunications engineering, in the signal processing, in optical communication solutions and in the procurement of so-called EEE Parts.

  • In the vocational school (theme-work teaching) you will learn the theoretical knowledge, which ist deepened during the entire training period. This includes, e.g. the planning of work processes, compliance, legal or economic requirements but also job-related topics, which are important in everyday professional life.

    Within the training you will be on all relevant areas and theirs respective tasks prepared and taught. That means that in the course of your training, you will go through all the different departments and gain an overview of the whole company and get to know the interfaces.

  • As a student at the DHBW, you will complete your university studies in just three years and at the same time gain one and a half years of professional experience. You will be taught or trained in alternating phases in practice and theory for an average of twelve weeks each.

    As a dual student at TESAT, you will receive a monthly remuneration throughout your studies, so you are financially independent and can concentrate fully on your studies. Furthermore, you will be taught personally in small course groups. The intensive study offers you a diversified, up-to-date and practice-oriented education, which you will deepen by many electrotechnical specialized courses in our education laboratory.

    Die Elektroniksparte hatte es mir angetan und nachdem ich von Tesat – einem Raumfahrtunternehmen – hörte war ich fasziniert und bewarb mich um eine Ausbildung. Jetzt lerne ich, wie in der Raumfahrt gelötet wird, lerne viel über Mechanik und wie man Software für Testsysteme programmiert. Immer im Hinterkopf, dass das, woran man arbeitet, irgendwann ins Weltall geschossen wird!

    Egal ob während dem dualen Studium oder danach, das Beste an der TESAT sind die Leute mit denen man hier arbeiten darf. Ob man Hilfe benötigt oder einfach ein paar Fragen hat – man kann sich immer auf die Kollegen verlassen. Besonders die Perspektiven und Möglichkeiten in den unterschiedlichsten Bereichen an nur einem Standort zu arbeiten, machen die TESAT zu einem tollen Arbeitgeber.

    Während meines Dualen Studiums bei TESAT konnte ich viele unterschiedliche Abteilungen und Bereiche kennenlernen, die unterschiedlichsten Projekte bearbeiten und mir so gut einen Überblick über das verschaffen, was ich später gerne machen möchte. Heute bin ich Operator der optischen, transportablen Bodenstation in Teneriffa und bin für den Betrieb, die Planung sowie Durchführung von Messungen und ihre Auswertung zuständig. Die abwechslungsreichen Aufgaben und das interkulturelle Team, auf das man sich gerade in unvorhersehbaren Situationen blind verlassen können muss, sind das, was mich an meiner Arbeit so fasziniert.

    Nach meiner Ausbildung zum Elektroniker für Geräte und Systeme hat mir TESAT die Möglichkeit geboten, mein technisches Wissen mithilfe eines Dualen Studiums mit wirtschaftlichen Aspekten anzureichern. Im Studiengang Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen Fachrichtung Elektrotechnik lerne ich so, die beiden Welten zu verknüpfen und profitiere von meinen Vorkenntnissen aus der praktischen Ausbildung.
