Backnang, 12.04.2018: Tesat's Laser Communication Terminal for CubeSats, CubeL, is on track after recently the Critical Design Review (CDR) was successfully held at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen. This was an important milestone for the development program on the way to its demonstration mission, which is planned to launch later this year.
Satellite communication reaches new peak
Backnang, 11.04.2018: Tesat-Spacecom established 10,000 connections between satellites using its Laser Communication Terminals (LCT). Tesat's LCTs transmit massive amounts of data at up to 1.8 Gbps over distances of 80,000 km in orbit. In addition, the company develops significantly smaller LCTs for Direct-to-Earth applications.
Backnang, 21.02.2018: Exactly ten years ago on 21st February, 2008, a government-to-government cooperation between the United States and Germany to establish a laser link between two operational satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) started a new chapter in the history of space. The German radar satellite TerraSAR-X and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency satellite NFIRE, both equipped with Laser Communication Terminals (LCT) manufactured by Tesat-Spacecom, established the first successful and stable orbital laser link.
PI1283 – Backnang, 12.09.2017: Tesat-Spacecom GmbH announced today that it will produce and market an interoperable version of its space based Laser Communication Terminal (LCT). The interoperable terminal will be able to communicate in both 1064nm and 1550nm wavelengths.
PI1284 – Backnang, Germany, and Boston, Massachusetts, USA (September 11, 2017) — Tesat-Spacecom GmbH & Co. KG (Tesat) and BridgeSat, Inc. (BridgeSat), announced today an agreement to jointly develop a solution enabling interoperability between Tesat’s heritage Laser Communications Terminals (LCT) and BridgeSat’s global optical communications ground network.
PI1281 – Backnang, 16.05.2017: When the countdown for the last of the four Inmarsat-5 satellites starts at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, it is just after 1 am Central European time. The engines ignite, the rocket lifts off, and shortly thereafter: frenetic cheers. The launch of the Falcon 9 rocket from the US space company SpaceX under the leadership of Elon Musk has been successful and the valuable cargo is on its journey.
PI1280 – Backnang, 27.04.2017: At 9:30 am, the curious young girls dived, or rather "were lifted", into the world of Tesat-Spacecom - taget destination: Outer Space. An introduction to the product world around and from Tesat by Petra Schumacher, Head of Strategic Management, deepened the understanding of the benefits of space technology. Furthermore she explained to the girls, which value the work from Tesat has for the environment, the nature and the whole world. Shortly thereafter a film presentation and a lecture followed, which took the girls by the hand and drew the big picture.
PI1279 – Backnang, 07.03.2017: Just as successful as its twin satellite Sentinel-2A in June 2015, Sentinel-2B started at 02:49 AM (CET) to its long mission in a so-called “Low Earth Orbit” (LEO) around the Earth.
PI1278 – Backnang, 28.01.2017: With today’s launch of the SmallGEO satellite Hispasat 36W-1, OHB System AG from Bremen, Tesat-Spacecom from Backnang and further suppliers have once again raised the space travel location Germany to world-class levels.
PI1277 – Backnang, 23.11.2016: Today's launch of the world's first commercial data relay service ’’SpaceDataHighway’’ introduces a new era of satellite communications. The program is based on a public-private partnership between the European Space Agency, ESA, and Airbus Defence and Space.
